The Pioneers of Hope Foundation
The Pioneers of Hope Foundation seeks to holistically serve people
by providing medical equipment, scholarships and job and life skills
training. The disabled and disadvantaged have received wheelchairs
and other equipment through the Foundation free of charge. By improving
the quality of the lives of people with wheelchairs and other forms
of international aid, those who are less fortunate are empowered
to live more fulfilled, productive lives. The Pioneers of Hope Foundation
seeks to improve the quality of life of the whole person, spiritually
as well as physically. Helpful information, relating to meeting
spiritual needs, is also provided through education and the distribution
of literature. All equipment and literature are given away absolutely
free, with no charges or financial obligations. Education regarding
how to lead a more fulfilling life includes English teaching, business
ethics, and spiritual enrichment. The Pioneers of Hope Foundation
desires to meet the needs of the whole person and provide hope for
a better life.
The Pioneers of Hope Foundation
works in cooperation with The Northern Child Development Center
(NCDC) and Wheels of Hope (USA) in order to provide home medical
equipment for the disabled and disadvantaged. Wheels of Hope collects,
refurbishes and ships wheelchairs, crutches, bath seats, standing
boards, etc. Medical professionals from the Northern Child Development
Center (NCDC), Suan Dok Hospital, MeKean Rehabilitation Center and
Chiang Mai University decide which piece of equipment is right for
each person through an application process.
Since June of 2000, 550 high-quality
wheelchairs have been distributed through the NCDC in Chiang Mai.
The equipment that was distributed free of charge had a total value
over 19 million Baht. Chumsaeng Reongjareongsook, the chairman of
the Pioneers of Hope Foundation works in coordination with Wheels
of Hope representatives and the NCDC staff to provide high quality
medical equipment for the disabled absolutely free. Patients who
receive equipment are selected based on their need and lack of ability
to obtain equipment on their own.
